Opinion

On Dec. 11, Hicksville residents will be voting to fill the open seat for fire commissioner of the Hicksville Fire District. John Keyer is a candidate for this position.

John is a longtime member of the Hicksville Fire Department, serving both as an engine company and Haz-Mat unit firefighter and officer. He is heavily involved in the Hicksville community Scouting programs, Hicksville Fire Department Juniors, Duffy Park Civic Association and the Hicksville Community Council, currently serving as its president.

I did not know John before being elected commissioner of the Hicksville Fire District. You have to greatly admire a man who will sacrifice so much of his personal life to serve our community, especially the young. John's fire service experience and community involvement will be a tremendous asset in the management of the Hicksville Fire District.

Please join with me in supporting John Keyer for commissioner of the Hicksville Fire District on Dec. 11.

Bob Manson

Commissioner, Hicksville Fire District
