Throughout November, Martial Arts America in Hicksville will take part in Thanksgiving Basket Brigade, a national project in which martial arts students perform kicks to raise money and food for local families who would otherwise do without.

To do their part, Martial Arts America is conducting a Kick-A Thon on Saturday, Nov. 17. "Our goal is two-fold," said owner Mike Donohue. "First we wish to help our community and the needy families, and just as important, we will provide a first-hand giving experience to our students."

Martial Arts America's goal for 2007 is to have at least 50,000 kicks performed and collect food for 100 Thanksgiving dinner baskets, which will each include a turkey, rolls, gravy, corn, beans, cranberry sauce, potatoes, pies, juice and more.

Martial Arts America is located at 300 South Broadway/Route 107. For more information or to make a donation, call 932-5275.
