A Call for Tougher Laws Against Fake ID Makers
Senator Craig M. Johnson, (D-Nassau) joined Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice and representatives from the New York chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) on Oct. 14 to call for tougher civil penalties against fake ID makers that will make them think twice about providing minors with the means to purchase and consume alcohol.

LIPA: Neptune Cable Saving LIers Millions in Electric Costs
The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) announced on Oct. 11 that it saved over $20 million this summer by using the new Neptune electric transmission cable to bring nearly 1.2 million megawatt hours (MWh) of low-cost power to Long Island during the peak summer season in July, August and September when demand for electricity is highest.

Grab a Buddy and Go for a Walk
Long Island will host its first Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome this Saturday at Eisenhower Park. This local one-mile advocacy walk is intended to promote acceptance and awareness of people with Down syndrome, a genetic disorder caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome.
