Park to Be Dedicated in Honor of Marine Corporal Kevin T. Kolm
Marine Corporal Kevin T. Kolm of Hicksville who was killed in the line of duty in Fallujah, Iraq, will have a town park dedicated to his memory on Sunday, Oct. 21. The Town of Oyster Bay will conduct a public ceremony at 1 p.m. at the park, which is home to the Hicksville American Soccer Club and located at the corner of Old Country Road and Plainview Road (one block west of South Oyster Bay Road).

Gathering Signatures for Statewide Petition Against Governor's Plan to Issue Driver's Licenses to Illegal Aliens
New York State Assemblyman Rob Walker (R, C, I, WF - Hicksville) is gathering signatures for a statewide petition against Governor Eliot Spitzer's plan to begin issuing driver's licenses to illegal aliens. The governor's executive order will have the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and county clerks begin issuing the driver's licenses on Nov. 1.

Hicksville PAL to Hold Registration
The Hicksville Unit of the Nassau County Police Activity League (PAL) will hold registration Monday, Oct. 22 and Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration will take place at the PAL office trailer located in the west parking field of KeySpan Energy (entrance gate off Old Country Road opposite Park Avenue in Hicksville).

Girls Softball Fastpitch Tryouts
Hicksville Baseball Association is excited to announce the newly created Girls Fastpitch Softball travel program. Players are needed for the 14U team. Tryouts for the 14U team will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 21 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tryouts will take place at the Hicksville Baseball Association facility behind Dutch Lane Elementary School on Stewart Avenue.
