The New York State Department of Health has reported on the isolation of West Nile virus (WNV) from four additional mosquito pools in Nassau County. Also, an additional bird has been identified as positive for the disease. This brings the total to 20 mosquito pools and three birds positive for WNV in Nassau County this year. FULL STORY

The Hicksville Unit of the Nassau County Police Activity League (PAL) will hold registration on Monday, Sept. 17 and Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration will take place at the PAL office trailer located in the west parking field of KeySpan Energy (entrance gate off Old Country Road opposite Park Avenue in Hicksville).
