Opinion

There is a pretty good chance that over the past 18 years you or someone you know has had their picture taken, submitted and featured in the pages of this paper. And there is a pretty good chance that picture was taken by either Cathy or Steve Greenfield.

Photographers for both the Hicksville Illustrated News and the Hicksville Fire Department for nearly two decades, the Greenfields have always given of their time and talent to capture moments of local history. Whether it was a car accident or fire scene, parade, awards ceremony or simply just a cute moment in time, Cathy and Steve were always dependable, detailed and, most of all, professional.

Unfortunately, Cathy and Steve Greenfield, residents of Hicksville for nearly 40 years, have decided to shut off their scanners, put away their cameras and retire. Although they do not plan to relocate, their pictures will no longer grace the pages of this newspaper on a weekly basis.

The Hicksville Illustrated News is sad to see them go and, on a personal level, it has been my honor and pleasure to have been their editor for nearly six years. The Illustrated wishes them the best of luck and happiness as they move on to capture their own memories through retirement.
