Brian Jacovina Named Assistant Lacrosse Coach of St. John's Red Storm
Hicksville native Brian Jacovina was recently selected as the latest addition to the St. John's Red Storm lacrosse coaching staff. Jacovina is a recent graduate of the University of Massachusetts, where he played under Miller for three seasons when Miller was an assistant to Minutemen head coach Greg Canella.

Soap to Blame for Dead Birds, Insects in Kennedy Fountain
Nearly a half-dozen birds, along with dozens of butterflies, bees and various other insects have been found dead in the Kennedy Park fountain. On Aug. 14, the fountain had to be turned off, emptied, cleaned out and refilled, marking the third time in as many weeks that pranksters had poured dish detergent and bubble bath in it.

LI JDRF Sets $2M Goal for 2007 Walk for the Cure
The Long Island Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (LIJDRF) will be working up a sweat on Sept. 16 at Belmont Lake State Park in Babylon and Sept. 30 at SUNY Old Westbury at their annual walk, whose theme this year is "The Cure - Our Final Frontier." At last year's walk, the LI JDRF raised $1.5 million.
