Robert N. Pilosi, MD, passed away on June 27, 2007 in Port St. Lucie, FL, after a brief illness. He and his wife were residents of Long Island but had been vacationing in Florida.
Dr. Pilosi graduated from Georgetown Medical School in 1960. After completing a residency in psychiatry, he worked at Catholic Charities in New York City and Nassau County. He joined the staff of East Plains Mental Health Center in Hicksville in 1977. Now know as Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services, Inc., this non-profit agency has grown into a multi-service institution, serving people with mental health disabilities and difficulties with substance abuse. In his 30 years as medical director of Central Nassau, Dr. Pilosi used wisdom, knowledge, sensitivity and humor to provide guidance to his colleagues as well as treatment to his patients. He had a large private psychiatry practice in Hicksville.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Mary Grimes Pilosi. Dr. Pilosi will be greatly missed by his wife, friends, colleagues and patients. Great-grandmother of Laura, Maryelle, John, Christina, Nicholas, Marina, Francesca, Melissa and Jennifer. Great-great-grandmother of Audri and Liam. The family was cared for by the Thomas F.
