Celebrate Drinking Water Week Through May 16
A safe, reliable water supply is critical to the success of any community. It creates jobs, attracts industry and investment, and provides for the health and welfare of citizens in ways ranging from disease prevention to fire suppression. We often take water resources for granted unless we are living through a drought or when depleted water supplies threaten a community's future. Water plays a vital role in our daily lives, and this year the Hicksville Water District and all local water suppliers in conjunction with the AWWA will be celebrating what "Only Tap Water Delivers That No Other Water Can."

District Proposes $103.9M Spending Plan
Voting on the Hicksville School District's proposed 2007-2008 spending plan will take place Tuesday, May 15. At this time, voters will have the opportunity to vote for or against four propositions.

PAL to Hold 2007 Spring Registration
The Hicksville Unit of the Nassau County Police Activity League (PAL) will hold registration for the spring 2007 season on Saturday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration will take place at the PAL office trailer located in the west parking field of KeySpan Energy (entrance gate off Old Country Road opposite Park Avenue in Hicksville). A parent/guardian must be present at registration.

Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League
The warm weather brought out the men but it did not do much for our scores. We had 47 men play and we only had six men shoot par of less. There were only 35 pars in the group and Dan McCann got five and Jerry Skaee got four of them. That leaves 26 pars among the other 45 golfers. But we did have a birdie from Sevald Knudson on the 200-yard, par 3, 4th hole, and we had a very enjoyable round.
