Correction Officers Rally Again for Binding Arbitration
Sheriff Officers Association (ShOA), the union that represents Nassau County's 1,100 correction officers, states that it has not had any meaningful discussions with the Suozzi administration for more than 10 months. Additionally, the union hasn't had a contract from the county since December 2005. To help remedy this impasse, ShOA is requesting that county's legislators vote to put the binding arbitration issue on its calendar. Only with a positive vote from the 19-member legislature can the matter be brought to the New York State Legislature for needed approval.
