Opinion

Another Hicksville mailbox disappeared when the post office removed the one in the Delco Plaza in front of King Kullen.

I called the post office and was told it was removed because the Hicksville Fire Department deemed it to be a fire violation, because it was considered to be in a fire lane and people stop there to mail their mail. This box has been there many years since Delco Plaza was built.

I asked if another box was to be put in the area, as no other box exists near it and I was told "no."

Many of Hicksville's mailboxes have been removed over the past few years and hardly any still exist, while the price of postage keeps going up. I guess we will not have to worry about the postage prices, as there will be no place to mail our mail.
