After a hard fought season and 9-1 record, Roger Epstein's 10th grade Mercy Monarchs earned their way to the Nassau/Suffolk Tyro Playoffs. The Our Lady of Mercy CYO team began the playoffs March 17 with a close win over St. Agnes. They were then required to play undefeated St. Christopher's on March 22 at their opponent's home court. In a game that could have gone either way, Our Lady of Mercy dug out a close two-point win and advanced to the Final Four. On March 24, the Mercy Monarchs played the other St. Christopher's team in the semifinals.

After a number of clutch free throws down the stretch and a great defensive stand as time expired, Our Lady of Mercy made it to the finals, which took place March 25 at Molloy College. This game was close throughout, but Our Lady of Mercy defeated the undefeated St. Agnes team 47-45 in overtime with a winning shot at the buzzer to make them the Nassau-Suffolk champs!
