The Hicksville Public Library will hold its annual budget vote on Wednesday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For 2007-2008, the library is proposing a budget-to-budget increase of 2.96 percent at a rate of $209.11 per household per year. A budget hearing will take place Wednesday, April 11 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Voter registration will take place Wednesday, April 11 from 3 to 8 p.m. Residents are eligible to vote if they are citizens of the United States, have lived in the district 30 days prior to the election and are 18 or older. Anyone who has voted in any election in the last four years does not have to register to vote on the library budget.

Election of library board trustees will also take place on April 18.

For 2007, Valerie Pakaluk and Donna Riveria-Downey are seeking re-election unopposed. Pakaluk is seeking re-election to another five-year term, which would expire in 2012 while Riveria-Downey, who was appointed to the board last year, is seeking to fill the remainder of Anthony Edelman's seat, which will expire in 2010.
