Victoria Caputo, a seventh grader at Hicksville Middle School and daughter of Theresa and Larry Caputo, has, since January, garnered top honors in various gymnastics meets.

On Jan. 14, Victoria competed in the Brestyan's Invitation Gymnastics Meet, which took place in Massachusetts. She placed first on uneven bars (9.525); first in floor exercise (9.775); third on vault (9.425) and sixth on balance beam (9.275). She took first place in the All-Around Competition with a score of 38. Not only did she finish first in her session but Victoria also had the highest all-around score out of the 677 girls who competed in the meet.

In her second competition of the season, the Manhattan Classic held Pace University on Jan. 26. Victoria was once again named All-Around Champion with an overall score of 38.05 - the highest in all levels and age groups. She finished first in floor exercise (9.70); first on uneven bars (9.525); second on balance beam (9.6); and second on vault (9.25). The Manhattan Classic features gymnasts from throughout the United States, including Arizona, Utah, Maryland, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.

On Feb. 2, Victoria traveled to Florida for the Daytona Beach Open. During this event, she finished first in the All-Around Competition with a score of 37.2. Her individual accomplishments included first-place honors on even bars (9.55), balance beam (9.05) and floor exercise (9.40) as well as second place on vault (9.20).

Victoria captured her fourth title as All-Around Champion on Feb. 24 at the Little Bigger Invitation in Massachusetts. With a combined score of 37.65 she surpassed all other competitors and garnered first place honors in all four levels - balance beam (9.55), floor exercise (9.50), uneven bars (9.35) and vault (9.25).

Best of luck to Victoria, who will be attending the State Gymnastics Competition in April with her team from Gold Medal Gymnastics Center in Huntington and is coached by Tammy Marshall and Oskar Romero.
