Earlier this week, the historic rail cars owned by the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum were relocated from their long time storage location of Mitchel Field in Garden City to a new location just east of the Hicksville station on the Long Island Rail Road's Main Line. This move was performed in order to make room for the Ringling Brothers Circus train which is coming to Long Island March 13. The Hicksville location was selected due to its availability and relative inaccessibility by vandals. The cars, which can be seen only from passing Ronkonkoma trains between Bethpage and Hicksville stations, join two others owned by the Railroad Museum of Long Island and also stored at this location.

Though somewhat delayed due to some technical glitches, this week's move went off without any problems. For the coaches, this was the first time they traveled the Main Line since their retirement in 1999. For the baggage/mail car, boxcar and Caboose #2, this was the first time they traveled the Main Line in about 30 years. Certainly it was quite a sight and heads turned as the train passed through busy stations such as Mineola and Hicksville. Camera toting rail fans were spotted at many locations along the way.
