This letter is in response to the letter written by Hicksville Fire Chief Robert Chiz and printed in the Feb. 2 edition of Hicksville Illustrated News.

[In his letter] Chief Chiz criticized a presentation he did not attend. That presentation was at the Hicksville Community Center meeting on Jan. 4 not December as noted incorrectly in his letter. During that presentation by Citizens for an Informed Hicksville, it was clarified that [in August 2005], following a serious incident involving some volunteer firefighters, Station 2 was closed for three weeks for social reasons not emergency calls. However, those of us who live adjacent to the firehouse noticed a marked reduction in activity during that three-week time frame.

As chief of the Hicksville Fire Department, perhaps Chief Chiz can inform the public as to exactly what happened on Aug. 18, 2005.
