Ruth E. Saurer died on Jan. 14, 2007. Mrs. Sauer was born July 13, 1920 in Hicksville on the Gebhardt Farm where she grew up. Her father, the late Heneri Gebhardt, was a HFD member for 60 years. Mrs. Saurer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 86 years and a member of the HFD Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a cafeteria worker at Hicksville JHS in her younger years. Wife of the late Charles Frank Saurer (HFD, 60 years of service). Mother of Thomas E. (Rosemarie), Katy Gabrielsen (Otto), the late Judith Prinicde and the late Charles H. Saurer. Grandmother of eight. Great-grandmother of one. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Hicksville Chapel. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.
