Residents Speak Out Against Costco at DEIS Hearing
While many enjoy the benefits of shopping at Costco, some even holding memberships, residents of Hicksville and nearby Westbury are not in favor of there being a store on West John Street. And, at Tuesday night's hearing on Costco's Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), which took place at Oyster Bay Town Hall, the over one dozen community leaders and residents who spoke, all echoed the same reason for their opposition - traffic.

O'Connell to Run for Senatorial Seat Vacated by Michael Balboni
On Jan. 5, a mild winter day, in spite of the rain, village officials, supporters, friends, neighbors and the press gathered on the lawn of the East Williston home of Nassau County Clerk Maureen O'Connell, a Republican, as she declared her candidacy for the New York State 7th Senatorial seat recently vacated by Republican Michael Balboni. Governor Eliot Spitzer, a Democrat, has appointed Balboni as Deputy Secretary for Public Safety, the senior security and law enforcement official in his new administration

Hicksville PAL to Hold Registration
The Hicksville Unit of the Nassau County Police Activity League (PAL) will hold registration on Monday, Jan. 15 and Wednesday, Jan. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the PAL office trailer.
