Fire at Plaza Diner
On Dec. 14 at approximately 10 a.m., the Hicksville Fire Department, under the command of Company #2 Captain Chris Ebert, received a call for smoke in the kitchen of the Plaza Diner, which is located at the intersection of South Oyster Bay and Woodbury Roads.

Nanny Arrested in Death of Newborn Son
Nassau County Police report that a nanny suffocated her newborn son, stuffed his body into a shoebox and plastic bag and then left his body at the Hicksville Long Island Rail Road platform in November. Thirty-four year-old Erma Stephens, who rented a room in Brooklyn, was arrested Dec. 14 at the Woodbury home she worked at as a live-in nanny and charged with murder - 2nd degree.

For the first time since 1990, the Hicksville High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team achieved distinction as Nassau County AA-1 Conference Champions with a 10-1-1 record.
