Broadway Building Destroyed in Blaze
Approximately 200 firefighters battled an early morning building blaze on Saturday, Sept. 30. According to Hicksville Fire Chief Robert Chiz, it took over three and a half hours to extinguish the fire at the two-story South Broadway building, which served as the corporate headquarters of Diagnostic Imaging Group.

Online Group Provides 'Link' for Local Moms, Children
The online group Hicksville Area Moms (H.A.M.S) is helping moms and their children meet, mingle and form friendships while serving as a place where parenting topics can be discussed. Formed by lifelong resident Debbie De Louise back in May, the site currently boasts nearly 30 area mothers.

PAL to Hold 2006 Spring Registration
The Hicksville Unit of the Nassau County Police Activity League (PAL) will hold registration on Monday, Oct 16 and Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the PAL office trailer.

Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League
Great golf weather again. Some scores were OK and some were good. We had 44 golfers today and 45 pars and 2 birdies. Jim Greene got one on the 173 yard, par 3, second hole and Jack Prunty got the other on the 182 yard, par 3, ninth hole. Out of 44 golfers we had 12 net pars or less. Our next tournament will be a best ball tournament.
