The Michael Magro Scoreboard

The dedication of the Michael Magro Foundation's scoreboard at Hicksville Middle School took place May 22 at 3:30 p.m.

Larry Bryant, director of athletics for Hicksville schools, opened the ceremony thanking the family and friends of Michael Magro for the donation. Junior varsity players and Michael's former teammates scrimmaged on the field with junior varsity coach Joseph Surgot for about 10 minutes while the clock ran.

The tribute continued with a presentation from Alesia Sommers, president of the Hicksville Board of Education; Michael's mom, Terrie, and George Maxwell from the middle school athletics department.

Michael's parents, Terri and Paul, and younger brother, Marc, are thankful to everyone in the Hicksville school system for their efforts in helping to make this dream of Michael's a reality. "Looking up at the scoreboard with Michael's name on the front, I realize how much Michael's dreams touched all of you and I am proud to know that Michael still touches so many lives. May our son's memory be a blessing and an inspiration to all who grace this field today and for years to come," said Terrie Magro, on behalf of her family.
