CSEA to Nassau: Juvenile Detention Center Needs More Than 'Band-Aid' Fix
The Civil Services Employees Association (CSEA), New York's leading civil service employee's union, is calling upon the county to end what they refer to as "decades of decay at the Nassau County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC)." Union officials refer to conditions at the Westbury-based facility, which operates under the county's Department of Social Services, as "unacceptable" and took Nassau Legislators on a tour March 28.

Holy Family 8th grade CYO Wins Championship in Overtime
Holy Family was coached by Dan Rogers and assistant Carlos Petit and featured a strong starting line-up of Christopher Dragone and Ben Aloi, who dominated the boards most of the year and proved no match for most teams with their inside scoring ability. At the guard position Ryan Cacchioli, with his play-making, dribbling and driving skills, guided and set the tone for the team all year while Mike Callahan and Terry Brennan, with their outside shooting, proved reliable assets. Add to that a very talented bench comprised of Patrick Hayden, Nick Tobin, Kyle Rogers, Ryan McEnaney, Connor Mahan, Brandon Gamblin and Carlos Petit and you get Holy Family's first championship win in over 15 years.
