McDermott Pleads Guilty in Connection With Green Card Scam
Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced March 8 that Hicksville resident Clementina McDermott, 62, pleaded guilty to forgery - 2nd degree, a Class D felony and the top count in her indictment, and scheme to defraud - 1st degree, a Class E felony, for her role in a scheme to defraud several immigrants in Nassau County. Rice is recommending a term of imprisonment of 1-3 years; Judge George Peck committed to a term of incarceration no longer than one year.

David Kadio Sentenced for Role in Death of NYPD Retiree
Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced that 55-year-old Hicksville resident David Kadio was sentenced March 3 by Judge Alan Honorof to a term of five years probation, the revocation of his drivers license for one year, and a term of incarceration of six months, which was satisfied by the defendant's 369 days served. Judge Honorof also ordered Kadio to pay $11,720.06 in restitution for his role in the death of Richard Schaefer, 51, a former New York City Police Officer, on June 13, 2004.
