Dwyer and Manson to Vie for Fire Commissioner Seat, Again
Lifelong Hicksville resident Robert Dwyer has been a volunteer in the Hicksville Fire Department for 33 years and has served as fire commissioner for 20 years. Since 1973, Dwyer has been employed by the Town of Oyster Bay and currently serves as supervisor of the parks department. He has been an active member of the community, serving as a member of various community and athletic organizations and is also active with the New York State and International Fire Chiefs, the Fire Department Safety Officers and the National Fire Protection Associations.

Hicksville's Chris DeFeo Opens West John Street Deli
The only class Chris DeFeo ever failed in school was economics. "It's funny. I think it's ironic because look at me now," said 20-year-old DeFeo who, only three years after he graduated from St. Anthony's High School, has opened his own deli in Hicksville.

Ex-Chief Runs Into Burning Home, Rescues Elderly Man
On Friday, Jan. 13 at approximately 7:08 p.m., the Hicksville Fire Department received a call for a house fire at Boulevard Drive with persons trapped. Ex-Chief Pat Scanlon, on his way home from an earlier house fire on Dean Street, was the first firefighter on the scene. Upon arrival at the split-level home, Scanlon found fire venting out of a second floor window and was told by neighbors that a person was trapped in an upstairs room.
