Last December, the voters of Hicksville elected me to the position of fire commissioner and I once again want to thank you all for your confidence in me to do the job. I have kept my promise to you all and have been very active and available to all in need.
It has been a year since that election and now we are all faced with another election. This election is also very important to the people of Hicksville, the members of the Hicksville Fire Department and to me.
I have had the honor of working alongside my fellow commissioners and I can honestly tell you that their total commitment is to the taxpayers and the members of our department.
Nobody exemplifies that commitment more than Bob Dwyer. His willingness to put in all the extra time and effort to make sure that you all have the very best in fire and rescue protection is something that you as a Hicksville resident can be proud of. The many long hours that we all put in are on a volunteer basis - never once do you hear a complaint - are done because we want to do this for our fellow residents.
Bob Dwyer has devoted numerous volunteer hours in a number of organizations in Hicksville and has never used the excuse that "he didn't have time." He made time.
Now it is time for all of you to vote for fire commissioner and please know that every vote is important. Bob Dwyer has given you all over 30 years of his life as a firefighter and 15 years as a commissioner. Can you all give 30 minutes of your time and come down on Dec. 13 from 4 to 9 p.m. at fire headquarters on East Marie Street and vote for Bob Dwyer?
I ask all my friends who supported me last year to come out and vote for Bob Dwyer. He is my choice for fire commissioner and should be yours. He is the only and right choice.
Thank you all and rest assured we will do the right thing for you all.
Harry J. Single Jr.
Hicksville Fire Commissioner
