Some Hicksville residents are adept sprinters, even under unlikely circumstances. A woman, dressed in a black business suit, darts toward a departing Long Island Rail Road train, precariously balancing her briefcase on her shoulder. Another runs after a child in Cantiague Park while she adroitly holds an open juice box, a Dora the Explorer backpack, a cellular phone and a small coin purse.

All during those hot, sweaty practices of August, the 9-year-old Crusaders were constantly reminded of how hard work and commitment to each other as a team would eventually lead them to good things. If those words weren't fully believed back then they are now.

HFA Competition Cheerleading Teams Recognized
The Hicksville Football Association's (HFA) 9-year-old and 12-year-old competition cheerleading teams rocked the house last weekend. Both teams were recognized in two different competitions, quite an accomplishment considering the fact that it is only the second year of competition for the 12-year-olds and the first year for the 9's.
