Second Annual Diane Emdin Sachs Lung Cancer Walk October 9
The American Lung Association's second annual Diane Emdin Sachs Lung Cancer Walk will take place at Jones Beach on Oct. 9. The event, which was implemented last year, is in honor of the late Diane Emdin Sachs, a resident of Hicksville who lost her battle with small-cell carcinoma in November 2002. Ms. Sachs' last wish was to create a walk to raise awareness and funds to support the search for a cure.

Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League
It was a great golf day today, but we only had 32 men play. It was a make-up tournament that had been rained out last March. I guess some men did not realize that we were playing today, (we usually play on the first and the third Thursdays of the month). We had a scramble tournament today and only the team score counts. The winning team was Dave Malle, George Hatalsky, Jerry Skaee and Kent Schreiber. They had a score of 30. There were four teams that tied for second place with a score of 32. One of those teams had a birdie on the first hole, so they won second place. They are, John Geier, George Thomas, Frank Drasby and Jim Greene. The longest drive was won by Pete Johnson and the closest to the pin was won by John Ednie.
