John Lupski of Hicksville completes the Sprint for the Arts.
|
Nearly 300 runners and walkers and Masters runners were on hand Aug. 15 for an outstanding evening on the beautiful grounds of the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor.
Top finishers from Hicksville were Marco Abarca, who finished in 39th place overall in 20 minutes, 58 seconds; John Lupski, who was 44th overall in 21 minutes and 24 seconds; and Mike Heyer, who was 90th overall in 24 minutes and 5 seconds.
Net proceeds from the run are being dedicated to the renovation, upkeep and maintenance projects of the Nassau County Museum of Art. Thanks go to co-Directors Lynn Kotler and Bob Mittleman of the host Greater Long Island Running Club. Thanks also go to Gilles Pohl, owner of Bryant & Cooper Steak House and Cioppolini Trattoria & Bar without whose financial support the race would not be a success.
The running club is also extremely pleased to acknowledge the other sponsors who have continued to support the Sprint over the years, including Polar Electro for the donation of heart rate monitors; Snyder's of Hanover; Stop & Shop for providing post-race fruit; Friendly's for providing ice cream, a much needed cool refreshment for after the race; and the Mineola law firm of Pollack & Kotler.
"Our congratulations to Marco, John, Mike and all the other fine Hicksville athletes who were part of the event this year," said Mittleman. "Everyone enjoyed a great evening of running in a beautiful venue and helped support the County Museum of Art - one of Long Island's outstanding cultural treasures."
