HFD to Hold Public Vote August 15
In an effort to bring its length of service award program into compliance with the federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Hicksville Fire District will hold a special referendum so the public can vote on its proposed amendment to the existing program. The voting will take place on Monday, Aug. 15 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the fire district's main headquarters, located at 20 East Marie Street in Hicksville.

Hicksville Woman Arrested, Accused of Defrauding Immigrants
On Aug. 3, Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon announced that the DA's Special Investigations Bureau has arrested 61-year-old Hicksville resident Clementina McDermott. She is charged with grand larceny - 4th degree, a Class E felony under the Penal Law; Petit Larceny, a Class A misdemeanor under the Penal Law; and Unauthorized Practice of Law, a Class A misdemeanor under the Judiciary Law.

Sarah Grace Foundation to Hold Third Annual Run and After Party August 14
The Sarah Grace Foundation for Children With Cancer will hold its Third Annual Run and After Party sponsored by the Committee Who Cares on Sunday, Aug. 14 (rain or shine.) Sign-up will take place at Big Boar Cycles (433-9004), located at 161A Levittown Parkway in Hicksville, from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will feature a scenic tour run on Long Island and conclude with an End Sight Party at the VFW on Pulaski Road in Huntington Station. There will be live music, food and games as well as vendors and bike contests for adults and children. The cost is $10 for run biker; $5 for passenger. HFA Crusaders Gear Up for 2005 Season
The Hicksville Football Association's 2004 season was a huge success with two teams winning their respective age groups in the Nassau County Championships and the senior team finishing as Nassau-Suffolk County Runner Ups. HFA is looking forward to the future of these teams and the success of many others.
