On Saturday, July 23 Geise Park in Hicksville was host to a fierce competition. The parents of the altar servers were ready to take on the challenge of the second annual softball game and regain their pride after last year's loss.

The parents were off to a terrific start and led the game in runs through the fourth inning. Father Arcoleo played on the altar servers' team as their pitcher. He must have called in reinforcements for the next inning because the altar servers had a rally that could only be described as "divinely inspired." The altar servers wound up beating the parents 4-3. The parents have not given up hope and will be looking for a "Hail Mary" to help them for next year's challenge!

After the spectacular game everyone enjoyed snacks and a hero. The altar servers and the parents had a great time, although the parents are already talking of making a comeback for next year's game! If you are interested in becoming a part of this wonderful group of kids, call Fr. Arcoleo at 932-0051.
