Guilty Pleas in Robbery/Murder Case
Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon announced that 23-year-old Christopher DiMeo of Richmond Hill pled guilty to murder - 1st degree, a Class A felony, and robbery - 1st degree, a Class B violent felony. His mother, Maryann Taylor, 41, of Hicksville, pled guilty to robbery - 1st degree, a Class B violent felony. Both pleas were made before Nassau County Court Judge Victor Ort.

Spectrum Ceremony Recognizes Individuals, Organizations for Promoting Autism Awareness
Hicksville-based Spectrum Magazine, the only national lifestyle publication targeting issues pertaining to families affected by autism, recently honored three individuals and a national organization for their efforts and advocacy concerning the growing problem of autism in America. Autism has become a national health crisis and, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), now affects one in 166 children in the United States.

Gene Mayer Launching Tennis Academy
"What's needed in the area for high performance junior tennis players is a program where they can receive world-class instruction, live at home and continue their education in an effective and meaningful way." This declaration comes from the former number four internationally-ranked men's player, Gene Mayer, who today is considered one of the top tennis coaches in the world. To put his words into action, Mayer, along with former Port Washington Tennis Academy head pro Simon Shelton, announced they will be launching the Gene Mayer International Tennis Academy this fall.
