Walker Sworn Into Office
Assemblyman Rob Walker (R, C-Hicksville) was officially sworn into office for the 15th Assembly District on Tuesday, May 31 by Lt. Gov. Mary O. Donohue (right). Also on hand at the Albany ceremony were Walker's grandmother, Mary Hudson; mother, Rose Marie; sister, Kristy; Walker's wife, Elizabeth (holding the Bible); sister, Jennifer; brother, Bryan; and Minority Leader Charles H. Nesbitt.

Lauren Ziesig Recognized as 'Kid of Distinction'
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto and Robert AJ Eslick, founder of Kids Helping Kids by Kids Way, Inc., congratulated the winners of the "Kids of Distinction" Program at a special ceremony during a recent meeting of the Oyster Bay Town Board. Among the six youngsters selected as winners was Lauren Ziesig, a fifth grader at the Lee Avenue School in Hicksville.

Hicksville Fire Company 8 to Hold Golf Fundraiser
Hicksville Fire Department's Floodlight Heavy Rescue Company 8 is inviting players to its 12th Annual Golf Outing on Friday, June 17 at the Swan Lake Golf Club. The event is an 8 a.m. shotgun start and is $140 per player, which covers the greens fee, cart, continental breakfast and lunch on the golf course. A buffet dinner will be served at Hicksville Fire Department Station 1 after the outing, where there will be door prizes and much more.

Walkers Needed for Special Olympics Fundraiser June 11
Miles for Medals, Special Olympics New York's (SONY) statewide walkathon program, is coming to Long Island on Saturday, June 11. Participants will enjoy a fun day of exercise and the chance to raise funds for a great cause by completing the 2.5 mile course. The event will take place at Hofstra University at 9:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.
