A special election will be held in the 15th Assembly District on Tuesday, May 24 to fill the seat being vacated by Assemblywoman Donna Ferrara. Eugene Fennell has been appointed principal of Holy Trinity Diocesan High School in Hicksville, effective July 1. Fennell served at Holy Trinity for the past 23 years, first as a teacher and then as dean of students. He will succeed James J. Boglioli, who will retire after 38 years at Holy Trinity. On April 13, 2004, 23-year-old Marine Corporal Kevin Kolm was killed in the line of duty while serving his country in Fallujah, Iraq. Cpl. Kolm was a graduate of Hicksville High School and the Hicksville PAL lacrosse program. Although he never achieved stardom on Hicksville's lacrosse fields, Cpl. Kolm did so on the battlefield. For his heroism, Cpl. Kolm has been awarded, posthumously, the Bronze Star of Valor in Combat. FULL STORY
