Hicksville firefighters were on the scene of a serious accident at Newbridge Road and Stewart Avenue. The accident, which occurred on April 5, left two people seriously injured. Photo by Steve Greenfield

At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, the Hicksville Fire Department responded to a call for an auto accident with aided and a request for the Jaws of Life tool to extricate a trapped victim. The accident was at the intersection of Newbridge Road and Stewart Avenue and involved a tan Plymouth and a black Chevrolet.

A woman in the Plymouth was transported to the hospital in very serious condition by Hicksville Fire Department ambulance #939 and a victim from the Chevrolet was also transported to the hospital by the fire department's #9322.

Police cordoned off the area as a crime scene in order to conduct investigation and Newbridge Road was closed southbound at Stewart Avenue for approximately three hours. This scene was under the direction of 1st Assistant Chief Robert Chiz. Chief Steve Doucette accompanied the seriously ill victim to the hospital in the ambulance.
