Fire, Explosion at Vitamin Manufacturing Firm Results in $1M Loss
An explosion and fire caused an estimated $1 million loss at the Phoenix Labs, located at 140 Lauman Lane in Hicksville. The building, located in the Bethpage Fire District, is the site of a vitamin manufacturing firm. The fire was reported shortly before 6 p.m. on March 11.

Studying a Time Honored Tradition
The words "friendship," "cooperation" and "partnership" are posted on the walls of Hicksville's Okinawa Budokan Karate School. Young students punch and crabwalk during a lesson. Some parents stay and watch, cheering and applauding, such as when a boy executes a summersault. At the end of a lesson, the students joke with their Sensei Anthony Buscemi. One even asks his mother if he can come back sooner for his next lesson.

Hicksville Ice Hockey News
The Hicksville Ice Hockey Club finished its regular season in second place in the Non-Tournament Bound Division of the High School Hockey League of Nassau County. The Stars will begin post season play on Monday, March 21 at IceWorks in Syosset at 9:40 p.m. The Stars compiled a 9-3 record in the division and will face third place Garden City in the first round. If they are successful again in beating Garden City, they will advance to a best of three final series, which begins on Tuesday, March 22.
