Residents Still Say 'No' to South Broadway Hotel
Some 75 residents attended a Feb. 1 meeting at The Sterling to discuss Darshan Bagga's revised application for a "lodging" place at 594 South Broadway, the site of the former T.J. Courtney's restaurant. Despite plans to remove the proposed kitchenettes, residents are still set against a hotel of any kind.

Faulty Fireplace Suspected Cause of Fire
A suspected faulty construction of a fireplace and a fire left burning overnight in that fireplace led to an early morning fire that caused moderate damage to a Hicksville home. The fire on Woodbine Drive North was reported at 8 a.m. on Jan. 31 and brought out five Hicksville units and one from Bethpage. The fire was well under way in the floor beams of the first floor when Assistant Chief Robert Lang arrived. He managed to put out most of the fire with a portable water fire extinguisher before the first engines arrived.

Hicksville's 2004 Varsity Athletic Accomplishments
Congratulations to the Hicksville High School's Varsity Football team on a successful season. The 2004 Comets earned victories against Plainview, Port Washington, Long Beach and Valley Stream Central before falling to Freeport in the playoffs.
