The Briggs Neighborhood Committee would like to express our sincere thanks to the more than 500 residents who signed our petition to extend fire commissioner voting hours. Although we petitioned for hours from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., the vote to open the polls at 4 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. is a step in the right direction.

We would also like to thank Commissioner Charley Hearon for his persistence in putting this issue before the board regularly over the past year and Commissioner Anthony Widgzinski for making this a top priority in his new position as Chairman of the Hicksville Board of Fire Commissioners.
