I would like to thank the residents of Hicksville for coming out on Dec. 14 to support me with their vote. There were so many friendly faces to greet as you all walked past me to register your vote.
I am so proud to be your candidate and to have the opportunity to serve this community that I love so much. I will fulfill my promise to you all by giving this position all that I have in me to give. You have voiced your confidence in me and I will not let you down.
Please allow me to thank all of the wonderful and concerned citizens who let me place one of my campaign signs on your front lawn, fence or storefront. You truly showed this community that you care as much as I do for the well-being of all our residents.
I was very moved and honored by the letters of support that I received from so many of this community's finest and dedicated citizens. You have only to look who wrote those letters to see some of the most active community leaders that we are blessed to have.
I would also like to thank my campaign committee for all of their hard work. One of my committee members stated that he had never seen so much enthusiasm by so many people with a common goal.
It was so gratifying to see all the members of our Hicksville Fire Department who came out to support me and give me words of encouragement. That truly meant a great deal to me.
I would like to thank the members of the Save Our Neighborhood Firehouse Committee. You are truly the one and only voice of that area and your tenacity and tireless efforts made the difference.
So many other groups came out to support me, such as members of the Hicksville Baseball Association, Hicksville Football Association, numerous members of our various PTAs, civic associations and the Hicksville Youth Council. I thank you all very much.
Lastly, I would like to thank my family for all their support. If it wasn't for their strong belief in me and what I was trying to do, I don't know if I would have made it through to the end. They all know how I feel about our community and they have seen all that I have tried to do to make this a better place to live. I saw their pain when all the intentional lies about me were put in the newspapers just to attempt to smear me. Fortunately, they, along with everyone else who knew me, could see that this was a desperate measure by people who believe in scare tactics to get votes and needed to take the low road approach. I'm sorry you were subjected to that, but you all remained strong and focused and in the end, my family, friends and all of Hicksville came up victorious.
Let us all now move on and get the job done. Thank you and God bless us all. May you all have a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year.
Harry J. Single Jr.
Commissioner-Elect
Hicksville Fire District
