The Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League beat the rain for its Sept. 16 tournament and there were 39 golfers. When they signed in at 7 a.m., it looked like it was going to start to rain at any moment. As they played, the weather got better and it turned out to be a pretty good day.

The league only had 33 pars, but did have three birdies: one by Don Gaynore on the 259 yard, par 4, 1st hole; one by David Malle on the 150 yard, par 3, 3rd hole; and one by John Pelligrino on the 257 yard, par 4, 5th hole. The math play tournament ended with Bob Sull beating Wes Villazon four holes to two. It came down to the last hole. If Villazon had won the last hole, he and Sull would have tied the tournament at three holes each since Villazon had already won the first whole, which would have been the tiebreaker. But Sull won the last hole and the tournament. Congratulations.

The next tournament will be on Thursday, Oct 7. The league will also play a make-up tournament on Thursday, Oct. 14. This is for a rained out tournament earlier in the year.
