The Hicksville Crusaders 10-year-old team's first possession gained only 7 yards but on 4th and 3rd to go for the first down a short snap was picked up by punter Chris Ferolito and run around end for a 15-yard gain and a first down. Unable to move the ball for a first down, the Crusaders lined up to punt again. The snap from center Eddie Neuner was perfect and the punt was downed inside the 5-yard line.

On Long Beach's second play, a sweep to the right, defensive end Corey Gamblin tackled the ball carrier in the end zone for a safety. After the safety, the Bulldogs had to kick the ball to Hicksville. On 1st and 10 from the 40-yard line the call went to Chris Ferolito who hit off tackle and went the distance for 6. The PAT was a fake field goal and holder Mike McIlwee passed to Colin Byrne for the point. In the end, the Crusaders defeated the Long Beach Bulldogs, 9-0.

That would be all the scoring for the day for Hicksville, but with an awesome and swarming defense that's all they would need. The Bulldogs looked like they would score on a long run until middle linebacker Mike McIlwee chased down the ball carrier at the 8-yard line. A holding penalty pushed the ball back but the Bulldogs managed to get back to the 4-yard line. On third down defensive guard, Alex Parlo recovered a Long Beach fumble to end the scoring threat just before the end of the first half.

The second half was all defense with Hicksville creating 4 more turnovers - the first, an interception by Mike McIlwee; the second, a fumble caused by Corey Gamblin and recovered by Chris Durham. Both of these ending Long Beach drives. Unable to move the ball Hicksville was forced to punt and Chris Ferolito got off a 33-yarder that put Long Beach back inside their own 35-yard line. Two downs later on a pass play, safety Jason Urban hit the receiver and caused a fumble that was recovered by outside linebacker Kyle Brennan. On Long Beach's next possession with time running out, the game was sealed when safety Zack Maron tip a pass that Connor Kennedy picked off and returned to the 20-yard line.

These 10-year-olds all work hard and all deserve credit for the win including offensive linemen Jaysen Rosario, James Rocco, Alex Parlo, Chris Durham, Eric Werenberg, Michael Genovese, Rifat Djonovic, Sal Lercara and center Eddie Neuner. Offensive ends and backs Conor McAuley, Danny Schultz, Kyle Brennan, Colin Byrne, Ryan Tarzia, Jason Urban, Zack Maron and Connor Kennedy. Brandon Morel could not make the game, Sunday and get well soon to Gavin Piccione who has his arm in a cast.
