Despite the real threat of rain, the Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League had 39 men show up to play golf on Aug. 5. There were a couple of drops of rain a few times, but each time it stopped in a minute. There was a cold wind, however, the tournament was still played. The league also played the second round of the match play tournament and eight men advanced to the next round There was only one birdie and that was Ed Talbot on the 259 yard, par 4 - 1st hole. There were 28 pars, but only one man got more than two. David Malle had pars on the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 9th holes.

The next tournament will be on Thursday, Aug. 19. It will be the third round of the league's annual match play tournament.

Competition on the nine-hole course is divided into two divisions. Flight A is for players with a handicap of 11 or less. Flight B is for players with a handicap of 12 or more. The league is a 100 percent handicap league. Any man who is 55 years of age is eligible.

Please note: Because of the rapid growth of our club this year, the league regrets that it must limit its membership. The time involved to make up the foursomes and the waiting time for all the groups to finish is prohibitive.
