Hicksville LAX Hero Honored
May 8, 2004 was a cold and grey day. It was also a day of warmth, sunshine and red, white and blue. It was a day of flags, balloons, hot dogs and lacrosse. It was a day that Hicksville’s lacrosse family and the community at large gave Tom, Jackie and Christine Kolm a great big hug and got a bigger one in return. But mainly it was a day to celebrate the life of 22-year-old Kevin Kolm, a Hicksville High School Graduate and US Marine, who was killed in Iraq on April 13.
Hicksville Water District Discusses Chlorination, Addresses Concerns
On Wednesday, May 26 the Hicksville Water District held its first community forum to explain and discuss the district's chlorination efforts. At the meeting, which was held at the Hicksville Public Library, Nicholas Brigandi, water district chairman, commissioners Richard Humann and Karl Schweitzer, Doreen Brunning, account clerk, and John Molloy, president of H2M - the district's engineering and consulting firm, were on hand to inform the community and answer questions.
Hicksville's Colby-Sawyer Lacrosse Stars
With nine first-year students on the Colby-Sawyer Women's Lacrosse Team roster, Paul Stinson had more newcomers than veterans in his initial season as head coach. After beginning the 2004 season at 0-3, the Chargers won four straight games, but dropped the last seven en route to a 4-10 record.
13th Annual Hicksville Community Golf Outing June 7
The Hicksville Chamber of Commerce will hold its 13th Annual Hicksville Community Golf Outing on Monday, June 7 at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course, One South Woods Road and Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury. All proceeds from the event will benefit local charitable organizations, including the chamber, Hicksville Kiwanis Club, Nassau Electric League, Hicksville Lions Club and the Hicksville Youth Council's Boys and Girls Club.
