Elizabeth J. Magee, a library aide at the Mattituck-Laurel Library, died at Central Suffolk Hospital in Riverhead on March 18, 2004. The Jamesport resident was 60 years old. Betty, as she was affectionately known, was born in Brooklyn to Harold J. and Amelia (nee Desmond) Campbell on July 21, 1943. She was a former resident of Hicksville and Chantilly, VA before moving to Jamesport three years ago. Locally, she was active in the Mattituck Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon. She will be remembered for her love of boating.
Surviving is her husband, Robert J.; six children, Marge Barbara of Garden City, Kevin of Leesburg, VA, Kathy of Richmond, VA, Brian of Smithtown, Mary of Sterling, VA, and Amy of Jamesport; a sister, Aileen Linchan of Castlerock, CO; and six grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home, Mattituck. Funeral services at the Mattituck Presbyterian Church by Rev. George Gaffga. Interment St. Charles Cemetery. Those wishing to remember Betty and her family in a special way can make donations to the American Cancer Society.
Mary Germain, of East Meadow, formerly of Hicksville, died on March 21, 2004. She retired from LI Newsday after many years. Wife of the late Thomas. Mother of Jim (Eleanor), John (Maureen), Mary-Ellen Cocchi (Roger) and Timothy (Virginia). Sister of George Balassi and the late Dorothy Farrell. Grandmother of 12. Great-grandmother of four. Aunt of many nieces and nephews. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Hicksville Chapel. Mass at Holy Family RC Church. Interment St. Charles Cemetery.
Monica V. Wojtyniak, of Hicksville, died on March 21, 2004. She was a lifelong resident of Hicksville and a membership chairperson of the Grumman Retiree Club. Sister of Frances and the late Irene.
