Station 2 Meeting March 30
On Tuesday, March 30, the Hicksville Fire District's Board of Commissioners will hold a second public meeting to provide the community with another opportunity to offer comment on finding a viable solution to the overcrowded conditions at the department's Station 2. The meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m. at fire department headquarters on East Marie Street, is being held to provide those residents who were unable to attend the district's Feb. 18 meeting a chance to hear reports and express their feelings about the possible expansion of Station 2.

6th Annual Polar Plunge Raises $19K
On Saturday, March 13, the Special Olympics of New York held its 6th Annual Polar Plunge, a major fund-raising event at Camp Mariah (Sharpe Reservation) in Fishkill, NY. The event was a record-setter, with approximately $19,000 generated for SONY, which proceeds cost-free sports opportunities to children and adults with mental retardation. The previous high amount raised was $15,000. Sixty-six people raised at least $100 each to earn the privilege of jumping into the 34 degree waters at Camp Mariah.
