The St. Ignatius Girls 8th Grade Team picked up where they left off before the Christmas break. The girls finished the regular season with four more victories. The team swept a weekend set with Our Lady of Victory, winning by scores of 51-36 and 41-28.

The following weekend came the rematch against Holy Family, which the girls won by a score of 44-35. The final regular season game was against St. Rose and the girls completed their undefeated season with a 42-36 victory.

Congratulations to Michelle, Julia, Morgan, Ashley, Karly, Blair and Kasandra for a truly outstanding season.

During the three-day Martin Luther King weekend, St. Ignatius hosted its first annual tournament.

The 8th grade girls, playing against top flight competition. Holy Family, St. Rose, St. Martin and St. Hugh swept to six wins in three days. The championship game was against St. Rose and the girls had to overcome a nine-point halftime deficit. Led by Michelle Kurowski and Julia Finlay, who totaled 37 of the team's 39 second-half points, the girls won 54-41. Michelle and Julia also took second place in the team three-point shooting contest.

The highlight of the weekend was the All-Star game. Michelle Kurowski, Julia Finlay and Morgan Rubanow represented St. Ignatius. In what was a tremendous display of outside shooting and surprising teamwork, the girls representing St. Ignatius, St. Rose and St. Martin were victorious. Morgan was selected as MVP for the All-Star game for her tremendous all-around effort.

Now, on to the playoffs.
