The Levittown Athletic Club's (LAC) Girl Softball Team has joined the Babe Ruth Girls Softball League, which will now enable girls to play for the New York State Title. The winner then moves to the Regional Title and finally, to the World Series.
Girls from 2nd grade through 12th grade living in Levittown, Bethpage, Wantagh, Seaford, East Meadow, Hicksville and Farmingdale are eligible to play. There are three divisions: second through fourth grade are the Farms; fifth through seventh are the Minors; and eighth through 12th are the Majors.
LAC's regular season will begin mid-April and run through June 30. The All-Star teams will be selected for each division and play in the State Finals, as well as other local tournaments in July and August. Girls must play during the regular season to be chosen for an All-Star Team.
LAC will be holding a free clinic for registered girls on Friday, Feb. 13 at the Gallow School, Farmedge Road in Levittown. Farms at 6 p.m., Minors are at 7:15 p.m. and Majors are at 8:30 p.m. This clinic will be for fielding, so sneakers and gloves are required.
