Helping Others Through Daughter's Memory
When their 12-year-old daughter Sarah Grace lost her battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in November 2002, the Weipperts of Hicksville were beside themselves with grief. But Marissa and Matt, along with their son, James, needed to do something in memory of the beautiful, fun-loving girl who, throughout her illness, was always smiling and never complained.
Toxic Fumes Force Evacuation
Hicksville firefighters were called out at 4:42 p.m. on Jan. 17 for a report of a strange odor in an adult group home. Upon arrival, it was quickly determined that the source of the problem was the oil burner and readings of up to 200 parts per million of carbon monoxide were detected in the basement area.
Hicksville Flash Take 2nd Place, Twice
The Hicksville Flash entered their first tournament of the winter on Jan. 4 at SUNY Stony Brook. The team took a split squad to the tournament: Hicksville Flash White and Hicksville Flash Red.
Holy Trinity's Relay Teams to Compete February 6
After placing in the 600m relay on Jan. 7 at the Armory Track & Field Center, Holy Trinity High School's Boys 4x800m and Girls 4x400m Relay Teams have qualified to compete in the 2004 Verizon Millrose Games, which will take place on Feb. 6 at Madison Square Garden.
