The other day, I received a very nice letter from my grandson Christopher Reimann. I would like to share this with you. I think you will enjoy it.
Chris is 10 years old and had to write a thank you note in his class to express his appreciation to someone. He chose me. His note is in his own words.
Each child read his own thank you note in class. When Chris read his, I was told his teacher had a tear in her eye and his classmates shouted, "Thanks to our veterans." I also had a tear in my eye, but somehow it seems to make it all worthwhile.
It would be nice if you would publish Christopher's thank you note in the Hicksville News. I'm sure your readers, especially us veterans, would enjoy reading it.

The following is Chris Reimann's letter:
Dear Grandpa,
How have you been doing lately? I've been doing very well. I hope you had a happy Veterans Day.
For school we have to write a thank you note giving thanks to someone who gave you a special gift or taught you a special talent. You didn't give a gift that will get lost or broken, but something that will stay strong forever. That is the gift of freedom. You and thousands of other soldiers risked your lives to make sure that American freedom doesn't fade away like the sun at dusk.
You proved that Americans are not cowards and will never back down when attacked. So I say thank you for ensuring freedom for many generations of Americans to come.
Thank you again for your active duty. I'll be very happy to see you this Thanksgiving. I hope this brings a tear to your eye because I know darn well it's going to with mom.
Chris Reimann
