I am writing to thank those who came out to vote for me in the Hicksville Fire District Commissioner's election. While I regret that I was not able to get enough votes for re-election, I am grateful that we live in a free country where the people are given the right to vote. I wouldn't trade that freedom for anything in the world.

I will continue to volunteer my time to the Hicksville Fire Department, which I have proudly served for 33 years, as well as the Hicksville/Jericho Rotary and the entire Hickville community where I have lived all my life.

Finally, I would like to thank all who volunteered their time during my campaign as well as the members of the board of fire commissioners for their endorsement, friendship and unwavering support throughout these past months. With their support I was able to run a truthful campaign that focused on numerous fire district accomplishments and highlighted the many ways in which our volunteer fire department benefits the community.

Have a healthy and happy holiday season!

William Schuckmann
