The Hicksville Flash U15 boys soccer team ended their fall season with 7 wins, 0 loses and 2 ties. The Flash scored 52 goals while only allowing 8 goals in 9 games. Their final game was a rough hard fought battle against a very physical Elwood team. The game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Goalie Kevin Cardoza was outstanding making some spectacular saves, five of them being one-on-one breakaways. Cardoza stepped up to the challenge and played his best game of the season when needed. The Elwood team saw they couldn't put the ball past Cardoza so with minutes to go they ran him over in goal forcing him out of the game with a sprained wrist. That's when the defense pulled together and shut down all offensive threats by Elwood. The defense was led by Anthony Geslak and Kevin Myers, who's speed and long strides stopped Elwood, Kyle Collier and Brian Masterson stopped the plays before they could start forming. Danny Alves, Danny Musinski, Matt Oliva, Georgie Rios, Teddy Bruckner, John Mira, Kyle Bloecker played a very physical midfield.
Hicksville's Hector Valdes goal was disallowed when his momentum put both the ball and Elwood's keeper in the net. The ref missed a penalty in the box when Zaul Buruca was pulled down from behind with less than a minute left in the game. The Flash are now preparing for indoor tournaments against East Meadow and Brentwood. Coaches Vito Sciascia, Paul Masterson and Randy Bruckner want to thank all their players for coming together like a family this season, they also want to thank Chris Musinski for all his time and effort training the team and all the parents who come out even in the pouring rain to cheer for the team.
